Tuesday night’s ACPS Production of the Lion King was a great success. The atmosphere was exciting and electric. Adrenaline was running high. The production opened with the whole school dancing to the iconic song ‘The Circle of Life’. It was clear from the beginning that this was going to be a night to remember. The play provided many humorous moments throughout with the audience laughing heartily.
Main characters, played mainly by Grade 4,5,6 students (with the exception of Young Nala and Banzai, played by Grade 3 students), remembered all of their lines and were on cue as they entered and exited in a timely manner for each scene. The Preps did exceptionally well for their first performance as they bravely sang and danced to ‘I Just Can’t Wait to be King’. The famous ‘stampede’ scene where Mufasa, betrayed by Scar, falls to his death and is trampled by wildebeest was re-enacted through dance and movement by the Grade 2/3 students who also performed a delightful dance to ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’.
The costumes and makeup were bright and spectacular. Our makeup artists were on hand to create authentic looking characters. The sound and lighting was well done and the change of props was seamless.
After speeches, a surprise video was shown at the close of the evening to showcase our talented musicians who played ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ on recorder, ukulele and keyboard.
Our students would like to thank everyone for their assistance with costumes, makeup, props, stage direction, ticket sales, choreography, sound, lighting and video. Without their help the night would not have been such a great success.
Parent feedback to students has been very positive. Our students tell about their own feelings of performing on the night in the comments below.

As my final primary school concert, The Lion King is certainly the best of all the plays that I have featured in. In The Lion King I was playing the role of the King’s (Mufasa’s) Major-domo, Zazu.
On the night I felt scared and nervous, but afterwards I wish that the concert could have gone on forever, because it was so exciting. One of my favourite parts was relaxing backstage between scenes. As I said before, The Lion King is certainly the best of all the plays that I have featured in.

On Tuesday the 15th of September, our school had an exciting production, “The Lion King”. In the production I was Simba the lion and sung a duet with Nala. I liked the whole concert and I think everybody did very well. While I was saying my lines I felt really nervous. I think the best part about the concert was the dances to the lovely songs.

I played Rafiki, whose name means friend in Swahili, and forgot none of my lines, however, I forgot my bowl twice. I had to improvise. I was so excited. I was the first one there, and I was super nervous. I ended up being quite loud, if I do say so myself. It was absolutely amazing, and it all went really well. It was cool and I had fun.

In Tuesday night’s production my character was the adult Nala which was my first preference so I was very proud of myself. Before the concert started on the night I was nervous but then when it started I was fine. The best thing was the singing because I love to sing.

I loved the concert this year. I played the roll as Pumbaa and had a cool warthog hat and face paint. I was really nervous at the start but I got over it. My favourite part was the jungle scene. Everyone did really well and had a great time. Congrats to the Preps on their first concert. Everyone went really well.

I felt excited for my last school play at primary school. All of the plays I have been in have been lots of fun. Our rehearsals were lots of fun but we did a lot of practice at home. My favorite part of the play was our dance at the start of the concert. My character was (Scar) the king of the hyenas. After the concert I was pretty proud of myself and all of my classmates.

The school concert was ‘The Lion King’. It was so fun. I played the part of Ed the hyena. I felt so scared but when I got on the stage, I was not. I loved ‘The Circle of Life’ dance as it had a lot of movement.
Katie and Jazza
Katie – I played Sarafina in the Lion King play that our school performed last night. My favourite part was wearing the makeup.
Jazza – I was a hyena in our play. My favourite part was the dance, we danced to the Circle of Life and I loved the part where I spun around in the centre of the circle.

On Tuesday night the whole school was getting ready for the big performance. In the play my role was Sarabi, Mufasa’s wife. I was in four scenes. In my first speaking scene I was nervous but by the last scene I felt more confident. My favourite part of the whole play was the stampede. Even though I wasn’t in it, I still thought it looked pretty cool. My class and I did the ‘Circle of Life Dance’. During the dance the Prep\1s and 2\3s came in and acted like the animal that they had dressed up in. To me the performance went pretty quick.

I got very excited before the school production and then I got really nervous as I entered the stage. The show was a great success. The makeup and costumes were awesome. I was young Simba and I sung ‘I Just Can’t Wait to be King’. I also danced to ‘The Circle of Life’. There were lots of funny bits that the crowd laughed at. Some people laughed at a bit that I said and I didn’t get why they laughed.

On Tuesday, 15th September, we had our school production. It was ‘The Lion King’. I was Nala’s dad. I had a onesie the same as my friend so my Pop thought my friend was me. I was in 6 scenes. In my first scene was the 4/5/6 dance then I was in the sleep scene where Simba looked at the kingdom with his dad. It keeps on going. I felt scared at the start then I felt fine. The part I liked the most was when Scar died.

On Tuesday, 15th September, our school held an awesome production of “The Lion King”. In the production I was Timon the meerkat. I was very nervous about singing but once I was on stage I was fine. At the end we sung “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and “The Circle Of Life”. It was a very tiring night but it was one of the best concerts I have been in. My favourite part was when Scar died.

On the night of the play I felt really excited. I was one of the hyenas my name was Hyenas 2. My favourite part of the play was when the hyenas had to laugh but it made the crowd laugh as well.

In Tuesdays night I was a hyena. It was great fun being a hyena. I was a little nervous though but later on I had a great laugh with my mates. When I was on with the other hyenas our jokes weren’t meant to be funny but basically everyone laughed. I thought it was a great night. Everyone was laughing and having a great night. It was my first proper concert and the best one so far, since I have a lot more to come. It was the best night I had ever had.

In the 2015 Arthurs Creek Primary School Lion King concert I played as Shenzi. Shenzi is the smartest out of the three hyenas. I felt nervous before I went on the stage for my scene. But when we got further into the concert I became less nervous.
I liked the grade 4/5/6 dance at the start of the concert. There were a few fumbles here and there but the parents still found it funny. I think the school play went pretty well.

In the play I was Mufasa (the king of Pride Rock and Sarabi’s husband). I was in 7 scenes and they were: The Circle of Life(1), Challenge Scene(2), The Sunrise(3), Elephant Graveyard(6), Disciplinary(7), Stampede(9) and Nala Confronts Simba(15).
It was really fun. In half of the scenes I was with Zazu (my major domo) and the other half of the time I was on I was with Simba. My favourite scene was when Zazu and I got to have a go at Scar in scene 2.
My night was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the school concert I was a giraffe and my friend was a cheetah. My favourite scene was the stampede and my friend’s favourite scene was the start. At the start before it started we felt like we had butterflies in our tummies and we were excited.
ann
Our favourite part was the stampede because we were running around in circles. We were running around baby Simba and then we broke into two circles and then Mufasa broke in and got baby Simba out but then Mufasa died. We were nervous but in the end we got there. It was fun. I was a cheetah.
Sterly & Matay
Our favourite part of the ‘Lion King’ play was the stampede where Simba was supposed be killed but his father (Mufasa) died. We were kind of embarrassed at the start of the play. My animal was a gorilla and my animal was a cheetah. Congrats on the preps first play. Good job to the grade 4/5/6 on their main characters.

Anne and May -Our favourite part was the stampede we liked the stampede because we were all part of it. Before the circle of life dance we were excited because in all the practices it looked amazing. Congratulations to grade preps for their first concert. All the main characters did a really good job at remembering their lines especially young Nala and Banzi. I think everybody did really good job at going on stage at the right time and the main characters projected their voice really well. I was a leopard and my friend was a giraffe. We had mounds of fun.

On Tuesday night ACPS did The Lion King for our concert. We liked the part at the start where we got to go on stage in The Circle of Life and be our characters and the stampede because we got to do a bit of running. Everyone did well! We had a great time!

On Tuesday it was the Lion King concert. We both got butterflies. I was a giraffe and my partner was a hyena who was called Banzai. Banzai was a main character in the concert but I wasn’t. Banzai and Nala were not in the grade 2/3 stampede because they were main characters but I was in it and so were some of the other grade 2/3s. We were excited and the concert went really well.
Lioneeno
Our favourite part in the concert was the ‘Stampede’ and the ‘Circle of Life’ dance.
We felt excited but nervous at the same time.
I was Yong Nala and my partner was a Baboon.
The concert went really well and the preps did well too.
